Neuroradiology
The Neuroradiology division in the UNC Department of Radiology comprises five attending neuroradiologists and three fellows. We have four clinical 1.5 T MR units (two Sonata, one Symphony and one Vision Siemens magnets). A 3.0T unit was installed in March 2006, and we currently have a 3.0T in our Research facilities. There are five CT scanners, (two 16-slice one 40-slice, and two 64-slice) and one spiral unit. We have two new state-of-art, biplane angiographic units in a dedicated Neurovascular suite, as well as access to five additional angiographic rooms in the general Vascular/Interventional section. Our research facility is headed by a dedicated MR physicist, and an MR spectroscopist is also onsite.
The Neuroradiology division performs close to 15,000 CT studies, 15,000 MRI stuies, 300 diagnostic angiograms, 100 neurointerventional cases, and over 200 spinal invasive procedures per year.
UNC also has a dedicated Neurosciences Hospital housing nearly 150 beds and a Women’s Hospital and a Pediatric Hospital. We have a strong working relationship with the Division of Neurosurgery, Department of Neurology, Department of Head and Neck Surgery, Department of Psychiatry , Department of Anesthesia, School of Dentistry and School of Computer Sciences.
