Cardiopulmonary Imaging
The thoracic radiology section is primarily responsible for interpreting outpatient and inpatient chest radiographs. In addition, diagnostic studies with fluoroscopy and ultrasound are offered. The section performs a wide range of interventional and therapeutic procedures in the chest. This includes, but is not limited to, lung biopsy, abscess and empyema drainage, fibrinolytic therapy, diagnostic and therapeutic thoracentesis and sclerotherapy. Members of the section are included in the Multidisciplinary Thoracic Oncology Program, and provide diagnostic and therapeutic procedures to treat patients with thoracic malignancies. This includes a highly successful program for management of recurrent, refractory pleural effusions on an outpatient basis. Consultation on procedural questions, and interpretation of diagnostic thoracic imaging are both available.
