    <content:encoded xmlns:content="http://purl.org/rss/1.0/modules/content/"><![CDATA[<p>Tonia Alston recently accepted the position of CyberKnife Coordinator, replacing the departing Virginia Green.  As coordinator, Tonia provides cross-departmental support for each patient's appointments, records and billing, as well as tracks ongoing CyberKnife treatments.  She also facilitates communication at the weekly brain tumor board.  (Some may already know Tonia, as she served previously as Radiation Oncology's financial counselor.)</p>

    <description>Dr. Zagar is our newest radiation oncologist and clinical faculty member, joining the UNC Department of Radiation Oncology in July 2011.</description>

<p>Dr. Zagar is our newest clinical faculty member, joining the UNC Department of Radiation Oncology in July 2011. He brings with him expertise in the treatment of patients with breast and lung cancers, and a research interest in the study of agents that enhance the effectiveness of radiation treatment, including chemotherapy and hyperthermia. As of 2011, Dr Zagar is the principal or co-author of eight peer-reviewed journal articles.</p>
<h2>Awards and Honors</h2>
<p>Dr. Zagar graduated <i>magna cum laude</i> from Georgetown University, and was the recipient of several awards and scholarships for outstanding academic achievement and excellence in clinical care during medical school. He was elected by Mount Sinai School of Medicine faculty members into the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society, and later served as President of the Mount Sinai Lambda Chapter. He also served as Chief Resident during his residency at Duke University</p>]]></content:encoded>
