Higginson honored with Clinical Oncology Fellow award

Dr. Higginson awarded with first annual Lineberger Clinical Fellow Award established to recognize UNC cancer trainees' outstanding accomplishments in both clinical and research endeavors.

Dr. Daniel Higginson, a fourth-year resident and co-chief resident in radiation oncology, was one of three recipients of a first time Lineberger Clinical Fellow Award, Shelley Earp, MD, Lineberger Director recently announced. "This new award will recognize yearly several of our outstanding young physician-scientists and encourage their participation in UNC's broad range of clinical, basic, public health and health services cancer research."

Dr. Higginson is a co-principal investigator of a UNC Lineberger clinical trial evaluating radiation induced changes in retinal oxygenation, after receiving grants from the NCTraCs and the Radiological Society of North America to support his research.
