High profile publications by Radiation Oncology physicians

In recent months, radiation oncologists Drs. Ronald Chen and Andrew Wang published important research in the high profile journals Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) and Nature Nanotechnology.

Dr. Chen's study in JAMA examined quality-of-life outcomes for different types of treatments for men with early stage prostate cancer.  (Complete reference: Chen RC, Basak R, Meyer AM, Kuo TM, Carpenter WR, Agans RP, Broughman JR*, et al. Association between choice of radical prostatectomy, external beam radiotherapy, brachytherapy, or active surveillance and patient-reported quality of life among men with localized prostate cancer. JAMA 2017 Mar 21;317(11):1141-1150. PMID: 28324092.)

Dr. Wang's study in Nature Nanotechnology examined in mice a new approach to improving cancer immunotherapy using tiny nanoparticles coated with tumor antigens. (Complete reference: Min Y*, Roche KC, Tian X, Eblan MJ*, McKinnon KP, Caster JM*, Chai S, Herring LE, Zhang L, Zhang T, DeSimone JM, Tepper JE, Vincent BG, Serody JS, Wang AZ. Antigen-capturing nanoparticles improve the abscopal effect and cancer immunotherapy. Nat Nanotechnol 2017 Sep;12(9):877-882. PMID: 28650437.)

The Department is proud of all its research programs, that span work in basic cancer biology, medical physics, healthcare engineering and clinical and translational research.
