Dr. Braun taught pathology at Brown University School of Medicine for many years. She presently studies the history of concepts of race in medicine and public health, in association with the Department of Africana Studies and the Program on Science & Technology Studies at Brown. She has just completed a book on the history of spirometry.

Dr. Braun's visit to UNC is supported by the Bullitt History of Medicine Club, the UNC SOM Academy of Educators, UNC SOM's NIH R25 Grant to Enhance Behavioral & Social Sciences in Medical Education, & the Dept of Social Medicine.
