Ellen Perry: My Life and My Work in Disability Advocacy

Ellen Perry is an activist and consultant who fights for the rights ofindividuals with physical, intellectual, and developmental disabilities. Born
with cerebral palsy in Raleigh, NC, Ellen has become one of North
Carolina’s most prominent advocates for independent living among
people with disabilities. She is the organizer of several state-level
campaigns including Real Advocates Emerging Now, Peer
Connections, and People First of North Carolina. Locally, Ellen served
for many years on the Transportation Advisory Board in Carrboro.
