Of these, 82% are men, 18% are women, and 1% are children
(but the percentages are approximately 50% men and 50% women, worldwide)


HIV is an even greater problem in poorer countries, especially Africa. 70% of all AIDS patients worldwide live in Africa.

Who is getting HIV?

All races and ages are susceptible:
41% of AIDS cases are whites
39% of AIDS cases are African Americans
18% of AIDS cases are Hispanics

1 in 4 new HIV infections are in people under age 22
50% of new HIV infections are in people under age 25

Therefore, young people are the fastest growing group of new HIV infections!

Why? Because they are engaging in risky behaviors.
