Lecture Series

The lecture series is geared towards general information about surgery that the faculty has deemed as important for every medical student to know. Therefore, the material is not necessarily geared towards the shelf exam. Most lectures are presented in an interactive format. Support material for some of the lectures is listed below.

Click here for Block 6 lecture schedule. The lectures are held on Tuesdays at 7:30 AM in the OR Classroom, Tuesdays at 5:00 PM in 4050 Burnett-Womack and Thursdays at 7:30 AM in the OR Classroom.

There are also several lectures that are no longer included in the live lecture series, but are available in video format and would be beneficial to watch during the course of the clerkship. These must be accessed through the one45 system, https://www.one45.com/webeval/unc-ch/index.php. You can find them under the "Handouts and Links" section for the Yr 3 Surgery Clerkship. Specific lectures you way want to review the videos of are Abdominal Pain, GI Malignancies, Perianal Problems, Jaundice, Perioperative Care, Post-Operative Complications, Lung Nodule, Transplant, Overview of Vascular Surgery and Abdominal Wall and Groin Masses. These topics will also be covered during your tutorials sessions.
