I am writing to invite you to join us for the 42nd Anniversary Meeting of the Nathan A. Womack Surgical Society May 17-18, 2013.

The year’s meeting will kick off with a presentation from our guest speaker, William C. Chapman, M.D., FACS, Chair of Surgery, Washington University, St. Louis, MO Department of Surgery.  In order to allow for more resident and student attendance, the lecture will be held on Friday morning, May 17th at 7:00 am in G100 Bondurant Hall. A breakfast reception will follow the lecture. A tour of the ever changing medical campus will be available after the reception. On Friday evening at 6:30 pm our traditional cocktail reception will be held at the DuBose House in Meadowmont. This event is always popular as it provides a welcoming venue in which to renew old friendships between Society members.

On Saturday morning, May 18th, we will have a presentation of abstracts/case presentations submitted by current Residents/Faculty and Womack Members. We are now accepting abstracts/case presentations for this year’s meeting.  Enclosed please find the form for submitting an abstract.  The form is also available on the Womack website at www.med.unc.edu/surgery/about/womack. Please submit the form to debbie_alberti@med.unc.edu with your topic.

Sharing scholarly pursuits and renewing the friendships that exist among our members have been important cornerstones of the Nathan A. Womack Surgical Society.  We hope that you will be able to schedule this weekend to come to Chapel Hill and participate.

They are able to present their equipment next week on May 9 and May 10. The demonstration will highlight: Bi-directional video, streaming video, video on demand and the proof that your OR can become paperless.

Demonstrations will take place every half hour and will take approximately 20 minutes. Please join us for one of the sessions during the two day event.

Robinson Conference 2008-08-11T14:10:00Z Event Mock Orals - State-wide http://www.med.unc.edu/surgery/events/mock-orals The UNC Dept. of Surgery will host chief surgical residents from throughout the state in a collaborative Mock Orals event. Residents and faculty from UNC, Duke, East Carolina University Brody School of Medicine, Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, New Hanover Medical Center in Wilmington and Wake Forest University will participate. Faculty orientation begins at 2:00 PM, and mock orals will be conducted from 3:00 to 5:30 PM.
