These are only guidelines, not requirements. They represent suggested targets of academic accomplishment if a faculty member wishes to pursue promotion with tenure. Achievement of these targets does not guarantee tenure, and not achieving them does not mean tenure will not be granted. Excellence in all three categories is not mandatory for promotion/tenure, and the guidelines are suggested for a single focus of excellence.
