Ollila Advocates for Melanoma Surgery Research
Dr. David Ollila is an associate professor in the department of surgery, specializing in general surgical oncology, applications of sentinel node technology, breast diseases, novel therapies for metastatic melanoma, endocrine surgery.
Ollila, along with his colleague Dr. John Thompson, discuss recent research on melanoma surgery in an online editorial in The Lancet, "Optimum Excursion Margins for Melanoma", published October 24th.
They argue that current research on margins for melanoma surgery has lead to progress in understanding of surgical procedures, but suggest that now more research from a multidisciplinary perspective is needed to improve the practice.
