January 11, 2013 -- The January 5th meeting in Chapel Hill was attended by representatives from the six surgical programs in NC: Brody School of Medicine, Carolinas Healthcare System, Duke University, New Hanover Medical Center, University of North Carolina, and Wake Forest School of Medicine.

Discussions centered on

  • developing a statewide Boot Camp for surgical interns
  • expanding statewide multi-institutional research on surgical simulation and patient safety
  • continuing statewide Mock Orals for chief residents

Drs. Pamela Rowland (UNC) and Ranjan Sudan (Duke) were elected to three-year terms as Co-Chairs of the committee. Dr. Richard Feins (UNC) will lead the Boot Camp Committee.
