Family House Diaries: Going Forward in All New Skin
October 21, 2009 -- UNC student Caitlin Hughes lost 90% of her skin due to a severe reaction caused by an antibiotic treatment. Because the skin damage resulting from the condition is similar to a burn, Hughes was treated at the North Carolina Jaycee Burn Center at UNC Hospitals. After her treatment as an inpatient, Hughes joined her parents at the SECU (State Employees’ Credit Union) Family House for three weeks of outpatient rehabilitation before returning home to Charlotte.
