The Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is pleased to offer the full spectrum of breast reconstruction options for patients with both congenital and acquired breast disease. Implants (silicone and saline), latissimus dorsi flap, and pedicle TRAM flap are offered in addition to microsurgical techniques such as the DIEP flap, MS-TRAM flap, SIEA flap, and SGAP flap. The choice of the best method of reconstruction is a highly personal decision. After a comprehensive consultation with one of our plastic surgeons, a patient can make an informed decision she feels comfortable with. The Division works closely with the Division of Surgical Oncology and the Multidisciplinary Breast Cancer Program to offer the highest level of comprehensive breast cancer care in the state.

In addition, the Division of Plastic Surgery can provide nipple and areola reconstruction, as well as solutions for other conditions.
