Project III Leader & Co-Leader Claire Doerschukof the Training Core

Claire Doerschuk, M.D., is a Professor of Medicine and Pathology, Director of the Center of Airways Disease, member of the Division of Pulmonary Disease and Critical Care Medicine and an investigator for the UNC CF/Pulmonary Research & Treatment Center. For the UNC Center for Tobacco Regulatory Science and Lung Health she is the leader of Project III and co-leader of the Training Core.

In Project III, Dr. Doerschuk aims to develop a better model of human smoking-related lung disease by using smoke-exposed lungs with airway epithelia overexpressing Scnn1b, the gene that codes for the beta subunit of the epithelial Na+ channel (βENaC). With the Training Core, Dr. Doerschuk is helping lead the next generation of regulatory scientists.
