Urology Resident Dr. Will Kirby Receives Owen Wangensteen Excellence in Research Award

Dr. Will Kirby, PGY-3 resident, received the Owen Wangensteen Excellence in Research Award at the American College of Surgeons’ Clinical Congress in October 2013 for his podium presentation, “Economic Impact of Training and Career Choices in Urologic Surgery.”  This work is in line with Dr. Kirby’s long-term interest in the economics of health care, building on his experience as an investment banker with Morgan Stanley in New York City prior to pursuing his medical degree at Columbia and his residency training at UNC.  This work, performed under the mentorship of Drs. Nielsen and Pruthi and in collaboration with Chief Resident Dr. Josh Langston, is now published in manuscript form in the Journal of Urology
