Sean Sawh, MD

PGY5 Chief Resident

 

Sean is from the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, where his father is a prominent urologist. He completed his undergraduate degree in Florida before moving to Ireland to complete medical school at the University College Dublin. He subsequently completed a research fellowship in urology at Harvard’s Brigham and Women’s Hospital before matching for general surgery at that institution. He then spent one year doing a fellowship in minimally invasive urologic surgery at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, Michigan before coming to UNC. In 2011, he received the "Resident of the Year" award. His professional goals include medical tourism with an emphasis on providing care in the Caribbean. He and his wife, Dr. Francy Sawh, enjoy traveling and spend their vacation time in the islands.
