Your site has a built-in system for managing and showing published news items.
News Folder
The News folder displays all published News Items. They're sorted by date, beginning with the most current item. For more information on exactly what a News Item is and how to add one, see Adding News Items. Once entered into the system (and published), News Items are visible in the News portlet, and can be queried into smart folders to be listed anywhere on a site.
