Portlets

Portlets are dynamic or static informational items that appear in the left or right-hand columns of a site.

News Portlet

The News Portlet shows the five most recent news items that are in published state. It's shown at the top of the right column of every three-column page, unless otherwise specified (See Managing Portlets). The News Item title is displayed, along with the modification date. Hovering over the News Item title shows the description text. Clicking the link displays the full News Item. To see a listing of all published News Items, click on "More News" at the bottom of the portlet.

Events Portlet

The Events Portlet will display the next five upcoming Events in the right column of a three column layout. You will see the Event title, location and beginning date. Hovering over the title shows the beginning lines of the Event description.

Calendar Portlet

The Calendar Portlet shows the current month with ability to navigate between months using the next/previous month arrows. The current day is highlighted with an orange border. Days containing Events are links to list of events that day. Hovering over days with Events shows date/time/title of events occurring that day.

Simple (Static) Portlet

A simple portlet allows space for custom text/images/etc to appear in the left or right columns. The left column portlet is reserved for contact information, while the right column portlet has the same curved style as the News and Events portlets.

Smart Folder Portlet

Smart folder portlets allow for smart folder content to be displayed in a portlet view. For consistency, all smart folder portlets should be added to the right column, and will match the style of pre-existing News and Events portlets.

For more information about adding custom portlets to your site, see Adding Custom Portlets.

Note: By default, News, Events, and the Calendar Portlet are shown when a user chooses a 3 column layout. This can be customized per folder in your site (See Managing Portlets). News and Event portlets are only shown when news and event items are present and published in the system.
