Anchors

Anchors are generally used on pages that contain a lot of content. It is a type of link that allows the site visitor to jump to another location on the page.

  4. Click on the Insert/Edit Anchor button (Icon - Anchor).

Page Headers Are Anchors

When you properly style the content of a page with headers ( Heading 2, Heading 3, Heading 4, etc.), the web system will automatically make anchors from those headers.  These type of anchors can only be linked to from within their own page (you can't link to them from other pages).

Here's how you link to a header anchor:

  1. In the Body Text, Select the text or image that you want to turn into an anchor.
  2. Click on the Insert/Edit Link button (Icon - Link).
  3. At the top of the resulting pop-up box, click on the Anchor tab.  You will be shown a list of all the headers on the page as well as any anchors that were added to the page (as explained above).

  4. Click the radio button of the header that you wish to create an anchor to.
  5. Click OK

Table of Contents

The School of Medicine web system has a Table Of Contents (TOC) option that can be added to any page.  It will automatically generate a table of contents based on the headers that are defined on the page.  The headers will be listed as links (anchors) in the TOC which will drop site visitors to the corresponding information on the page when the link is clicked.  The best thing about the TOC is that the system will automatically generate and update it for you.  As you add and delete headers on the page, the TOC will reflect those changes automatically.
