Nivo Slider

An alternative to the traditional "Hero Graphic", the Nivo slider is a customizable tool for displaying a single image or a slideshow of images on a page. It supports image cycling, captions, links for each image and more. This tool is featured on the School of Medicine homepage.

Easy Slider

Easy Slider is an alternative to Carousel as a way to display news items or collections of anything on your site. It offers some unique options, such as a play/pause button, as well as the ability to choose different navigation controls. This is the tool featured on UNC Health Care's newsroom.

Carousel

A carousel gives visual emphasis to content you'd like to showcase, such as news.

Hero Graphic

A hero graphic is a custom banner (either a static image or Flash movie) consisting of images and/or text. The following guidelines are important—not only for accessibility (see the "Dimensions" section), but also for cohesiveness between School of Medicine sites. The Office of Information Systems' Web Design/Development team is available to create custom hero graphics for you. If you have access to Adobe Photoshop or Flash and would enjoy designing your own, this page shares what you need to know assuming knowledge of those programs.
