Types of Sliders
Dynamically Generated
The content is pulled from a Collection or Folder the slider is applied to, and updates automatically as the contents of those containers change.
Manually Generated
Each slide is made by hand—just as you would author something with the visual editor—one at a time. Ironically, on a Page, Easy Slider can only work this way. Collections and Folders also allow manually generated slides.

Adding a Slider
There are three places you can add Easy Slider: to a Collection, a Folder, or a Page.
To a Collection
Collections allow either dynamic or manually generated content:
- To take an existing collection and display it's contents as a slider, click the 'display' drop down menu and select 'easyslider view' while on the collection.
- To create slides manually, click the 'actions' drop-down menu and select 'add slider'.

To a Folder
As well, folder contents can feed Easy Slider, or manually generated content is allowed. For dynamic feeding (of folder contents), only News Items and Images are allowed:
- To a display a folder's contents (News Items and/or Images) in a slider, click the 'display' drop down menu and select 'easyslider view' while on the folder.
- To create slides manually, click the 'actions' drop-down menu and select 'add slider'.
To a Page
Pages only allow manually-generated slides:
- Click the 'actions' drop-down menu and select 'add slider'.

Customization Options
If you add a slider but can't see the customization options below, it's because they've yet to be enabled for site owners, on your site. Contact us at webhelp@med.unc.edu to have them enabled.
These options are usually visible when setting up a slider, but once a slider has been added, you can view these options by clicking the 'slider settings' tab.

- Available Slide Types (Collection and Folder only) — Select the types that will be show in this slider, from the following options:

- Max Slides — The max amount of content items to use for slides. Set to 0 for unlimited.
- Image Scale — Choose the scale used for this image.
Warning: The default preview image size of 400x400 pixels should generally be avoided. Not only does it cause images to appear cropped (given the default slider height), but Internet Explorer 7 and earlier has a bug that causes titles and descriptions to disappear!
