Adding Flash Movies (.SWF Animations)

You can add Flash Movies (.SWF Animations) to your site. Flash Movies contain interactivity or animation created in Adobe Flash.

Flash Movies (.SWF Animations) are interactive or animated modules created in Adobe Flash, usually ending with the extension .SWF.  You can place Flash Movies anywhere in your site.

icon idea Tip: Be careful to avoid confusion, as Flash Movies (flash_movie_icon.jpg) are different from Flash videos (flash_video_icon.gif).  Flash video is a format used to display recorded video; whereas Flash Movies (flash_movie_icon.jpg) are often interactive & may contain little actual film footage.  For more information about Flash videos, see 'Related content' below.
’Add New’ Menu
  1. Navigate to the folder where you'd like to upload the Flash Movie.

  2. Click the add new drop-down menu, and select flash movie (flash_movie_icon.jpg).

  3. You will see a blank Add Flash Movie panel.

  4. In the Title field, enter a title for your new Flash Movie.

  5. If desired, enter a short description of the Flash Movie. A description is optional, but encouraged. The description appears in search results, in the summary content lists, and in the hovering text boxes that appear when a user rests the mouse pointer over a link to the movie. When a site visitor searches your site, the results will display the Title first, then the Description. So, descriptions are helpful for your site visitors to find content they are looking for.

  6. In the File section of the form, click Browse. A file upload window will appear.

  7. In the file upload window, navigate to the Flash Movie file on your computer, select it and click open.

  8. Leave the Scale section of the form set to 100%, unless you wish to resize the Flash Movie.

  9. Leave the Background color section of the form set to #FFFFFF (white).  If you wish to change this setting, contact the OIS Web Team for further consultation.

  10. Leave Show technical informations unchecked.  This displays properties of your Flash Movie, which may not be useful to users of your site.

  11. Click save. The main content area automatically switches to the view tab so you can view your Flash Movie.

  12. To publish your Flash Movie, click private on the green menu bar and then select publish from the drop-down menu. Your new Flash Movie is now visible in the navigation and is accessible to all site visitors.
