The Wilderness Medicine Interest Group at UNC-Chapel Hill is an organization which has been founded for the purpose of exposing students and healthcare professionals to the exciting field of wilderness medicine. Our objectives are to educate members with the necessary skills to practice medicine where access to care is limited by providing lunch-time talks, certification and training opportunies, electives, conferences, and various other resources.
What is Wilderness Medicine?
Wilderness medicine is not just practicing medicine in the woods. It encompasses all aspects of physiology, clinical medicine, preventive medicine, disaster relief, and public health. Anyone can get involved; it is all about combining your profession and your passion!
