Our next meeting will be April 2nd. We have a special guest, Dr. Pam Silberman, president and CEO of North Carolina Institute of Medicine speaking on the Affordable Care Act. We will also give updates on Medicaid Reform in NC and other advocacy opportunities. Food will be provided courtesy of AMSA

More about our speaker:

Dr. Pam Silberman is the president and CEO of the North Carolina Institute of Medicine (NCIOM). She is currently helping to staff different workgroups to identify the decisions the state must make to implement the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act.  She is also working with a task force that is examining options to strengthen the social and emotional well-being of young children and their families and another to examine strategies to prevent early childhood obesity. She serves as associate director for policy analysis with the Cecil G. Sheps Center for Health Services Research at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill (UNC-CH). She is a clinical professor in the Department of Health Policy and Management, Gillings School of Global Public Health, UNC-CH, and teaches courses on underserved populations and safety-net programs. Dr. Silberman graduated with a doctorate in public health from the UNC-CH School of Public Health in December in 1997.  She obtained her law degree from UNC-CH in 1981 and her bachelor’s degree in political science and psychology from the University of Illinois-Urbana in 1977.
