Since 2000 the Office of Educational Development (OED), in collaboration with colleagues from the School of Medicine and its Allied Health Programs, Schools of Pharmacy, Dentistry, Social Work and Nursing, has received funding from the Office of the Provost to implement the Health Affairs Interdisciplinary Case Conferences (HAICC). The funding supports an interdisciplinary experience for more than 600 students and more than seventy faculty during the spring semester. For the 2006-2007 academic year, students from the Schools of Medicine, Pharmacy, Nursing, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Rehabilitation Psychology & Counseling, Speech and Hearing Sciences, and Dentistry will participate in interdisciplinary small groups to learn about each other's professions, interview a standardized patient and develop a patient-centered management plan using a World Health Organization model. There will be no physical exams given to any patient. Each interdisciplinary group will be led by a facilitator. The 7th annual Interdisciplinary Case Conference will take place on the following dates:
