Welcome to the Standardized Patient (SP) Program at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Medicine. This program, administered by the Office of Educational Development, trains individuals to teach and evaluate the communication, clinical skills, and professional behaviors of our medical & health professional students.

The Standardized Patient (SP) Program is a resource for both faculty and students of the medical and health professional schools at UNC. The program is a collaborative effort between the Office of Educational Development and other externally-funded projects that use SPs to evaluate the effectiveness of educational interventions.

This site is designed for visitors who are interested in becoming SPs, students who encounter SPs in the curriculum, people who are currently SPs, and faculty who wish to use SPs in their courses.
