Biopsychosocial Approach to Irritable Bowel Syndrome
A Finalist in the AMA's 1997 International Health and Medical Film Competition (Category: Patient Care)!

The aim of this professional education video is to offer guidelines on how physicians can communicate more effectively with patients who present mild, moderate, and severe symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome. At the same time, it reviews the epidemiology, pathophysiology, and diagnostic and treatment approach to irritable bowel syndrome.

This video and study guide can be used for your personal continuing medical education, or can used for presentation to a professional audience.

A Biopsychosocial Approach to Irritable Bowel Syndrome was written by Center co-director Douglas A. Drossman, MD. It was co-produced by Bill Kush of Zancom International, and jointly sponsored by the UNC Functional Gastrointestinal Disorders Center and the International Foundation for Functional Gastrointestinal Disorders (IFFGD). The video was made possible through an educational grant from Solvay Pharmaceuticals.
