Contact the Family Medicine On Call pager (123-4400) to admit these patients, except for patients who are on dialysis or who are actively receiving chemotherapy. 3. Check on the WebCIS Group List titled "Medicine Admissions" to see which teams have open slots. - Sort the team list by clicking on the up arrow over "Label" to view in alphabetical order - Each team can admit 5 new patients per day. Once 5 new patients have been admitted, the team is capped. Cardiology (Med C/D) and the MICU (Med I) do not have strict cap limits. The Hospitalist service (Med H) can take a varying number of patients. Caps no longer apply after 7pm since the Night Float residents will distribute patients to the appropriate services. - The Cardiology Resident (Med C/D) should be contacted at all hours with cardiology admissions. - The MICU Resident (Med I) should be contacted at all hours with MICU admissions. - *On weekends, call the appropriate upper level resident ( there are two) assigned to the team you wish to admit to ( eg 24 hr float ABE, or 24 hr UWGK. 4. Once a team has been identified as being appropriate and having an open slot, call the resident (R2 or R3) directly with the admission. - The accepting medicine resident is responsible for adding the patient to the group list. 5. The ED and clinic physicians are still responsible for calling Bed Control (6-2041) to reserve a bed once a team assignment is made. 6. If there are questions between 7am-7pm, text page the Medicine Chief Resident On Call. If there are questions between 7pm-7am, text page the Hospitalist On Call (216-6208). |
