Curriculum in Ambulatory General
Internal Medicine
The Department of Medicine firmly
believes that a significant amount of residency training should occur in
the outpatient setting. Our residency is currently 50% ambulatory which
consists of block months of outpatient rotations. They are as follows:

For outpatient clinic and commumity-based
practice residents may choose 1 of 4 University or Community locations.
Residents become fully integrated into the practice seeing patients as
well as gaining an understanding of the administrative aspects of running
a practice. |
In addition to the rotations
listed, residents follow a panel of continuing care patients. Each resident
spends a minimum of 1 half-day per week caring for these patients. Faculty
precept all resident clinics. Each resident's clinic schedule is coordinated
with his/her monthly rotations to avoid clinics on on-call or post-call
days.
The
residents clinics are held in the Ambulatory Care Center.
