Practice Philosophy
My practice goal is to provide the best care for each patient, based on well-founded guidelines for standard of care while taking into account the individual patient’s quality of life and personal expectations. My specific interests are in diseases associated with abnormal blood vessel growth and these include diabetic retinopathy, retinal vein occlusion, age-related macular degeneration, and retinopathy of prematurity. Through the use of laser and microsurgery, some of these blinding diseases can be treated to save or restore vision. Specialized treatments include vitreous surgery (vitrectomy), photodynamic therapy, and laser therapy. Besides the acute management of retinal disease, the overall management for each patient includes recommendations for prevention of disease and visual rehabilitation.
