Just as with your pediatrician or family doctor, I want every child
to have a good result from treatment. In addition I use as little
intervention as needed and as gentle an approach as possible. Every
bit of improvement in vision that the parents and I can bring to a
child lasts a lifetime. That makes each day at the clinic an exciting
opportunity to help young people.
We use the team approach in the Department of Ophthalmology at
the University of North Carolina - Chapel Hill. The team approach
is an important feature of modern medicine. In my effort to bring
my patients the best possible care, I can offer consultations in
any specialty in medicine that might be needed and in any subspecialty
in ophthalmology. There are few other places where one can find
so many experts readily available to help.
Because of my special interest in strabismus, or misalignment
of the eyes, I also welcome adult patients with a history of that
problem or with double vision (diplopia).
As an eye pathologist, I also have a particular interest in cancer
of the eye, and I will be involved closely with the Department of
Ophthalmology's new Ocular Oncology Center.
It is a pleasure to care for my patients at the University of
North Carolina, where we always strive for excellence in medicine,
comfortably provided.
