Information for Applicants

Written inquiries concerning orthopaedic residency education should be directed to:

Edmund R. Campion, MD
Department of Orthopaedics
CB #7055, Bioinformatics Building
University of North Carolina School of Medicine
Chapel Hill, NC 27599-7055

or

contact Karen Gilliam at the above address or at Karen_Gilliam@med.unc.edu

In addition to completion of the application for residency education, personal interviews may be required. These are held on specified Saturdays during the late fall and winter. Luncheon and a tour of the facilities are provided at that time.

The match number for the five-year program is 190038.
The number for the six-year program is 190086.

The following points should be clearly understood:

  • The first year of graduate education is similar for all residents-surgical and orthopaedic.
  • Matching to one of the orthopaedic positions for the first year of graduate education (internship) is usually tantamount to acceptance into the orthopaedic program, assuming that the first year is satisfactorily completed.
