For the textually-impaired, we offer both a partial medical center map and a map of the tri-county region, showing major highways plus Triangle area cities and towns. [Hint: UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill is indicated by the white "bullseye".]
We are located on the south end of UNC's award-winning campus, in the UNC Hospitals complex, just east of the entrance to the main hospital, on the north side of Manning Drive. You can get here by...
Taxi (from the Raleigh-Durham International Airport):
RDU airport offers both limousine and taxi service to UNC Hospitals for about $35.00 each way. There are also charter buses to and from the airport for $8.00 each way, but these need to be reserved in advance.
Bus:
In-town campus buses on the U and S routes pass by the hospital complex at regular intervals. For other in-town services, you'll need a transit guide to determine which routes pass by at which times of the day.
From Durham, use the Blue Line; from Raleigh or Research Triangle Park, use the Green Line (both lines are $1.50 each way). Most buses include the phrase "Hosp" in their banners indicating that they go to (or come from) UNC Hospitals. If worse comes to worst, ask the driver whether the bus stops at UNC Hospitals.
Car:
From Route 15/501 Bypass in Chapel Hill, turn west onto Manning Drive. Follow Manning Drive up the hill, and then either:
Visitor parking is available in the "Dogwood" Health Affairs Parking Deck located on Manning Drive across the street from UNC Hospitals. Parking rates are 75 cents per hour up to a maximum daily charge of $6.00. A shuttle provides free service from the main parking deck to the front of the hospital.
Valet parking is also available directly in front of UNC Hospitals' main entrance. The daily cost is $6.00.
Patients receiving radiation therapy may also be given passes to park in a specially designated area next to the Clinical Cancer Center.
On Foot (from the intersection of Franklin and Columbia Streets in downtown Chapel Hill):
Proceed south on Columbia Street and make a left turn onto Manning Drive. Continue for about a block and a half. The NC Clinical Cancer Center is on the left side of the street, in front of the new Women and Children's Hospital, and directly across the street from the new parking deck.
The Department of Radiation Oncology is located in the "old" Gravely Building, now called the North Carolina Clinical Cancer Center. It is a three-story red brick building with coated windows that look black from the outside, and is located near the main entrance of UNC Hospitals (facing the hospital, the Center is to the right of the main entrance near the top of the access drive). The clinical treatment area is on the ground floor, while the administrative offices, the radiobiology laboratories and the computing facilities are on the first floor.
