Dr. Michael J. McMahon is co-Director of the BIRCWH seminar series
and Executive Secretary of the Internal Advisory Committee. Dr. McMahon
received his MD from Indiana University in 1989 followed by residency
training in Obstetrics and Gynecology. He came to UNC in 1994 where he
earned an MPH in Epidemiology as part of a joint fellowship at the Cecil
G. Sheps Center for Health Services Research and within the UNC Division
of Maternal Fetal Medicine. Since joining the faculty in 1996, Dr. McMahon
has conducted clinical research, published over 15 articles including first
author in The New England Journal of Medicine, and earned several
prestigious teaching awards including the University of North Carolina
Medical School Recipient of the Hyman L. Battle Excellence in Teaching
Award in the Clinical Sciences.
