Program
on Prevention in Education & Practice The Program is represented by a Directors and an Education Coordinator. Together this team works to fulfill the Program's mission and educational programs.
Dr. Harris is an Associate Professor in the Department of Medicine. He also holds adjunct appointments in the Department of Social Medicine in the School of Medicine and the Department of Epidemiology in the School of Public Health. Dr. Harris has an MPH degree from the Department of Epidemiology at the UNC School of Public Health. He is board-certified in both Internal Medicine and Preventive Medicine and is a practicing clinician.
Ms. Ward joined the Program in 1998 with considerable experience in curriculum development in medical education. She is a valuable link between the medical students and faculty and the Program in that she is responsible for the development, distribution and integration of the Prevention Syllabus as well as coordinator of the Prevention in ACTion (PACT) student interest group and summer prevention education experience for students. Ms. Ward also maintains the website and creates the electronic newsletter "An Ounce of Prevention..." She coordinates the public health course "Strategies of Prevention for Clinicians" and keep the Blackboard site for this class up and running.
