Bleeding Disorders

The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Hemophilia Treatment Center (HTC) was established in 1952.  One of three federally funded centers in North Carolina, our center provides comprehensive medical care services to patients with bleeding disorders, such as hemophilia, von Willebrand disease and rare bleeding disorders.  We care for patients throughout their life span using a team approach.  Hematologists, nurse educators, social worker and physical therapist are involved and provide services including diagnostic evaluations, treatment, education, research, and care coordination.

Clotting Disorders (Thrombosis)

Our physicians provide care for many medical conditions including, but not limited to, the following:  deep vein thrombosis of leg or arm, pulmonary embolism, sinus and cerebral vein thrombosis, Factor V Leiden, prothrombin mutation (factor II mutation), antiphospholipid antibody syndrome, protein C deficiency, protein S deficiency, antithrombin III deficiency and clotting disorder in pregnancy.
