The 2008 Pierre Morell Research Day in Neurobiology was held Friday, August 29, 2008, noon to 5:30PM. Our featured speaker this year was Dr. Rachel Wong from the University of Washington. Her seminar “Imaging circuit assembly in the developing retina” was at noon in G202 MBRB. Lunch was served following the seminar, and a poster session, open to all students and postdocs, was held on the second floor of MBRB. Click here for the flyer.
Posters were judged in two categories: students in years 2 or 3; and students in years 4 and higher.
The first-place award for students in years 2/3 went to Nate Sowa (Mark Zylka's lab), for "A NOVEL NEURONAL PHOSPHATASE IS INVOLVED IN NOCICEPTIVE SIGNALING"
The second-place award for students in years 2/3 was a tie between Meghan Morgan (Franck Polleux's lab) for "TAK1 – A POSSIBLE ROLE IN AXOGENESIS" and Meagan Voss (Mark Zylka's lab) for "CHARACTERIZATION OF THE DROSOPHILA ORTHOLOG OF PX, A PHOSPHATASE WITH ANALGESIC PROPERTIES IN MAMMALS"
The first-place award for students in years 4 and higher went to Natalie Surzenko (Larysa Pevny's lab) for "SOX2 IS REQUIRED FOR DIFFERENTIATION OF RETINAL MÜLLER GLIA"
The second-place award for students in years 4 and higher went to Jacquie de Marchena (Ben Philpot and Franck Polleux's labs) for "SUBCELLULAR TARGETING OF GABAergic SYNAPTIC CONNECTIONS"
Congratulations!
The 2007 Pierre Morell Neurobiology Curriculum Research Day was held Friday, September 7, 2007, Noon-5:30PM. Our featured speaker was Dr. Jon Levine, from UCSF. The Research Day Poster session was held in the second floor of MBRB, and was well attended by students and faculty alike.
And the poster winners for 2007 were:
