Community Based Student Training
The increased emphasis on community-based education experiences for medical students let to the creation of the Offices of Regional Primary Care Education (ORPCE) in each AHEC. These offices help coordinate and organize the many primary care community-based physicians who participate in medical education programs. The ORPCEs assist teachers and students in the education process, support community-based preceptors, and ultimately help to create more primary care providers, especially in underserved and rural areas.
