Program Goals

To expose more minority high students to the healthcare arena and subsequently encourage them to pursue the field
To establish and improve upon academic skills necessary for success in the basic sciences
To provide health education aimed at promoting attitude and behavior modification towards healthier lifestyle practices
To encourage teamwork and cooperation
To promote student interaction necessary to work towards a common goal
To enhance student creativity, organizational skills, and oral presentation skills
To stimulate interest and provide knowledge of a variety of body systems and diseases affecting minority populations
To disseminate information concerning universities' pre-medical curricula and college preparations

The 2009 program will be held on Saturday mornings from 8:00am - 1:00pm on the following dates:

Where will the program be held?
The program will be held at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, on the campus of the UNC School of Medicine

Do I have to go every week?
Yes, attendance is mandatory. You must attend all sessions and actively participate. If you have a scheduling conflict, you must notify program coordinators as soon as you are aware of them.

Do I have to bring money for food?
No, both breakfast and lunch are provided for participants at charge.
