How do you manage to stay balanced and healthy in spite of the busy med school schedule? The most important thing for me is to try to do something active everyday. I go to the gym a couple days a week, I go to the indoor climbing gym, and play soccer. It’s also very important to have a good balance of school and social activities. I go out on the off weekends to blow off some steam and try to get out of town when I can. What’s the most important piece of advice you would give to an incoming MS1? Stay balanced! Don’t let school and studying take over. No matter what, there is always time to exercise and be social. It’ll make you happier. What is your favorite artery, organ, or nerve; and why? Even though muscle isn’t an option, I pick the sternocleidomastoid. It’s by far the coolest sounding body part. Tell us your favorite joke. Why is it cool to be a test tube baby? Because you have a womb with a view. If you had a theme song that played every time you entered a room, what would it be? The guitar solo from Beat It by Michael Jackson. If you could only eat one thing for the rest of your life, what would it be? Grilled pineapple- think about it. Give us your favorite first year “one-liner”. “Before I start this lecture, I’d like to encourage the faculty not to ask any questions.”
