How do you manage to stay balanced and healthy in spite of the busy med school schedule? To stay balanced, I make time to spend with friends and family frequently. It’s important for me to get away every now and then and completely forget about school and work. On a daily basis, exercise and TV keep me grounded in the real world. What’s the most important piece of advice you would give to an incoming MS1? The Hershey Kiss is real! You really must stay balanced in order to succeed and enjoy medical school. In the long run, remember that medical school is more than just studying, it’s also about making connections and building friendships which will last into your professional career. Don’t let it consume you because it can easily suck you in. What is your favorite artery, organ, or nerve; and why? Femoral artery for the sole reason that it is so awkward to palpate. Tell us one of your favorite memories from your first year of med school in the form of a haiku! Monday afternoons. If you could be any element on the periodic table which would you be and why?
