Dr. Ellen Roberts, UNC-CH AGS chapter

Dr. Ellen Roberts, PhD, MPH, faculty advisor for the student chapter of the American Geriatrics Society, is the UNC-CH School of Medicine Academic Coordinator for Geriatric Education at the Center for Aging and Health (CAH) & Office of Educational Development (OED) and Research Assistant Professor of Medicine. She received her PhD in 2000 at the School of Public Health, University of South Carolina at Columbia (USC-Columbia) in Health Promotion and Education. Her master’s of public health was achieved at UNC-CH with an emphasis on Health Education.

Previous to August 2005, when her appointments at the CAH and OED commenced, she was Assistant Professor of Medicine and Associate Director of Geriatric Medical Education at USC-Columbia. Grants for which she is co-principal investigator include UNC-CH’s Donald W. Reynolds Foundation “Comprehensive Programs to Strengthen Physicians’ Training in Geriatrics.” She is also Research Faculty Coordinator for the John A. Hartford Foundation Carolina Center of Excellence in Geriatric Education. Dr. Roberts is from Charlotte, North Carolina and has had administrative responsibilities and professorships at the University of Miami, Dartmouth Medical School in Hanover, New Hampshire, and the University of Hawaii at Hilo.
