MEMBER DUTIES
A. Student Attorney General – Director of the Honor Court
1. Coordinates (with the Dean of Student Affairs) a Honor Court orientation session..
2. Completes a written exam covering material in the Instrument of Student Judicial Governance.
3. Writes a letter to the faculty in the beginning of the academic year introducing the Court and reminding faculty of the importance of the honor code (and how to bring forth charges if necessary).
4. Emails the entire medical student body at the beginning of the academic year to introduce the new Honor Court members and emphasize the importance of professional conduct in medicine.
5. Investigates all charges of Honor Code violations. If charges warrant a hearing, the SAG presents the charges to a group of six Honor Court Members including a Co-chairman. The SAG does NOT decide the guilt or innocence of the accused student.
6. Counts votes for student elections with the Whitehead co-presidents.
7. Attends Whitehead council meetings. Presides over hearings involving Whitehead constitutional matters.
8. Organizes the Member Selection Committee and application process for new members.
9. Prepares an end of the year report for the Dean of Students.
10. General supervision for the activities of the Honor Court. Works to promote honorable conduct among medical students (announcements, emails, lectures, discussions).
B. Co-chairmen
1. Advise and assist in all honor court matters.
2. Serve on the Member Selection Committee.
3. Co-Chairs preside over court cases involving infractions of the Code.
4. Attend a Judicial System training session conducted in August.
5. Complete a written exam covering material in the Instrument of Student Judicial Governance.
C. Active Co-chairman
1. Set up and Organize, Select members for Honor Court Hearing.
2. Preside over court cases involving infractions of the Code.
3. Prepare letter to administration regarding board member decisions on hearings..
4. Attend a Judicial System training session conducted in August.
5. Complete a written exam covering material in the Instrument of Student Judicial Governance.
D. Honor Court Members
1. Attend a Judicial System training session conducted in August.
2. Complete a written exam covering material in the Instrument of Student Judicial Governance.
3. If called upon, sit in on court cases involving infractions of the code or Whitehead constitutional matters.
4. Work to promote honorable conduct among medical students (announcements, emails, lectures, discussions). |
