MEDWorld Volunteer Sign-Up

All volunteers are required to undergo training in
MEDWorld operational procedures which includes
training in collection and warehouse operations. The
volunteers are also required to complete Universal
Precautions Training through UNC Hospitals Volunteer
training to ensure that while working with MEDWorld
volunteers follow hospital safety procedures. Therefore
each volunteer must undergo one 2hr hospital training
session and one 2hr MEDWorld training session.

To be effective and helpful, each volunteer must be
available 5-10hrs / month for a minimum 1 year
commitment. During work with MEDWorld volunteers
are exposed to various medical instruments, procedures
and hospital operations. The training process can be
quite extensive and to ensure low turn-over rates,
volunteers are asked to dedicate themselves to
MEDWorld for a minimum one year.

Volunteers are offered opportunities to shadow hospital
physicians in clinical care or research and to participate
in overseas medical missions.
