PACT
(Prevention
in ACTion)
Mission Statement:
Our obligation as health care professionals holds us
to the goal of preventing disease and promoting wellness. In accordance
with this, the purpose of the Prevention in ACTion (PACT) group is to
provide information and educational opportunities in preventive medicine
for medical students. PACT works with other interest groups and also supports
its own projects, providing opportunities for students to gain experience
in preventive medicine and community service. PACT is actively involved
in promoting child safety and wellness in the Orange County school system
through the RiskWatch program, and providing health education at community
centers in the Chapel Hill/Carrboro area. PACT can act as a resource linking
you to other prevention projects focused on particular interests. We also
hope to work cooperatively with other student interest groups to see and
use prevention strategies within the various clinical areas.
