Faculty advisor: Dr. William Coleman Dept. of Pediatrics Student leaders:

mission:The purpose of Pediaction is to link students in the health care professions with students from local schools in order to enhance the education of both parties. The youth that we work with are referred by juvenile courts, law enforcement officials, guidance counselors, teachers, mental health professionals, social workers, and parents. They are identified as students who may benefit from spending time with an adult role model such as a medical student. The intent of these relationships is to provide these kids with new experiences that will aid him or her in appropriately developing academic, social, and personal skills for future achievement and success. We work primarily with middle school students and secondarily with parents, teachers, guidance counselors, and other school staff. Moreover, we receive training and on-going support from the Volunteers For Youth, One-on-One program that helps us to fulfill our goals. Students are expected to maintain the relationship for a minimum of one year. Although, you'll find that the you develop a fulfilling friendship that can endure much longer.other useful information:Volunteers for Youth, One-on-One WebsiteIf you are interested in working with Pediaction,
