About the Society

The UNC-CH Society of Medicine, Bioethics, and the Law (SMBL) is a multidiscplinary student organization dedicated to fostering discussion of current topics within the intersection of the fields of law, medicine, and bioethics.  While SMBL is based at the UNC-CH School of Medicine, it places special emphasis on involving students and faculty members of other graduate and professional programs in its activities.

MALPRACTICE LUNCH 2004
On April 22, 2004, attorney Pankaj Shere of Womble Carlyle presented an outstanding talk on practical ways that medical students and residents could reduce their malpractice liability exposure.  Look for more entertaining and informative events like the Malpractice Lunch to be sponsored by SMBL in the 2004-2005 school year.

Get Involved with SMBL
Do you have interests in the intersection of law and medicine? Are you a med student who thought about law school or vice versa? Do you look forward to going to Med Soc each week?
