GoalsThe purpose of the Distinguished Medical Alumnus Award is to honor alumni who have significantly enhanced the reputation and prestige of the School of Medicine through their lifelong careers of service and accomplishment. Criteria for selection include excellence in professional and community leadership and service or exemplary contributions to the medical profession or to humankind of such importance as to merit national and international recognition. The purpose of the DMAAs is to honor two alumni each year who have significantly enhanced the reputation and prestige of the School of Medicine through their lifelong careers of service and accomplishment. Only two awards will be given. One is for excellence in professional and community leadership and service and the second is for exemplary contributions to the medical profession or to humankind of such importance as to merit national and international recognition. The DMAA Selection Committee is now seeking nominations for the 2011 awards and you are sincerely urged to submit nominations for deserving individuals. You will find the DMAA Nomination Guidelines on the reverse of this letter. Please read these guidelines carefully. All nominations must include the curriculum vitae of the nominee, a primary letter of nomination, and two additional letters of support. The nomination materials are due no later than October 1 and should be submitted to Carol Ashby (contact information below). All materials must be received in order for a nominee to be considered.
